do you realize that your isp also has a right to monitor your content, and your traffic can also be subject to investigation?
google is just up front about it. If you have a substantial argument against them, please back it up and stop scaring people away from google...there are WAY too many users out there AOL'in and MSN explorer'ing their way to the internet. most of your parents are probably in this demographic. So start with those companies first, or at least mention them as well. If you're gonna point fingers, might as well point fingers at them too. - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4For those of you not in the U.S...

(if Google comes to kill you for using these while not living in the U.S., don't blame me!) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Found and put them here: http://i-loveyou.info/google_firefox.php for everyone not only US
- goodbyepolar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems to only be available for people in the U.S. at the moment. - http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/safebrowsing/us_only.html
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh boy, another link to a blog.. direct links plz!
(btw.. j/k) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the web comments extension is pretty much what technorati does
- allenu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Blogger Web Comments is pretty darn cool. It's a great way to stumble upon other people's posts about a page you're browsing, effectively creating a virtual message board for all web pages.
- M$Whore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A phishing filter, thats brilliant! Why didn't anyone else think of doing this before?
- sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Firefox Extensions Page:
http://toolbar.google.com/firefox/extensions/index.html - StrawberryFrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know if M$Whore (1) is being sarcastic or what in saying "A phishing filter, thats brilliant! Why didn't anyone else think of doing this before?"
But FYI, here's the phishing filter that I have been using: http://toolbar.netcraft.com/
It's good in that it also provides site hosting and ownership information. So how does this google firefox plugin stack up? it looks less functional at first glance - it's firefox-only for one thing, and has less buttons on the toolbar. - t0dd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here is a phishing site it does not catch: http://nhdn.de//s/www.aol.com/Billing-center/bill_form.html
They should really consider a "Report a suspected phishing site" button in the next version. - bariswheel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want to know the details here....
6. How does Google know a page is bogus?
We use several techniques to determine whether a page is genuine, including the use of a blacklist containing pages that have been identified as suspicious and/or misleading based on automated detection or user reports. Our software also examines pages' content and structure in order to catch potentially misleading pages. Google Safe Browsing can't offer perfect protection, so you should always be on the lookout for indications that a site isn't what it appears to be. But Google Safe Browsing can help identify and protect you against many of the sites designed to trick users.
If anyone can find any documentation that elaborates on this, please post it....thanks - amitpagarwal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.digg.com/links/Install_Google_Safe_Browsing_from_Outside_the_US

- ssaha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I can't install the Blogger Comments tool. Keeps telling me in Firefox 1.5, even though I'm running it!"
No *****! Maybe the damn extension is beta too. (j/k) - bariswheel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What kind of implications does this have on my web browsing? How will it affect my bandwidth? Am I going through some sort of 'proxy channel', thereby introducing latency to my connection? I'm sure the google geniuses have thought through all this, but just seeing if other people are thinking along these lines....let's discuss shall we...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It seems to only be available for people in the U.S. at the moment. - http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/safebrowsing/us_only.html
I just installed from germany via the tor anonymous proxy -
http://tor.eff.org/ - MrSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The comment function was most probably stolen from the StumbleUpon extension and similar systems.
- dasch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is very nice, though I'd rather have the notification window appear in a box below the toolbars, like the Extension Installation warning thing. It isn't as nearly as intrusive as a "look at me!" window, but it's very noticeable.
- Arkitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice find, thanks a bunch.
- poptorrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't install the Blogger Comments tool. Keeps telling me in Firefox 1.5, even though I'm running it! Maybe an issue in going from RC3 to 1.5 via automatic update?
Am I even missing out on anything anyway? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe someone can upload it somewhere else, because if you try to download it even directly to xpi it gives notice about US only.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This really needs more attention, check it out. This revolutionizes the web yet again.
- superm401, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The phishing extension is redundant. Firefox already provides a feature that explicitly notes the domain of a secure site you are viewing. If that doesn't conform to the apparent and appropriate domain, you're being phished. If you don't know the domain of your own bank/ISP/auction site, you've got bigger problems than phishing to deal with. (But sir, of course I had to guess on return. I don't know how to get my bank statement.) To those of you who are about to object that the feature doesn't work for non-secure sites, that's very foolish of you. Using those sites allows anyone who gives a damn to intercept your communications at many places down the chain, without any phishing.
- Trunks4191, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PLEASE BACKUP YOUR BOOKMARKS BEFORE YOU TEST THEM... USE THE MOZILLABACKUP UTILITY TO SAVE THEM OR EXPORT YOUR FAVORITES TO A FILE.....
I LOST ALL MY FAVORITES BY JUMPING IN AND TRYING TO INSTALL STUFF LIKE THIS - diggclone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@tobey,
It does not work.

Yes but I pay for their service. Also, for your information, ISP's do not keep a record of what your surfing habbits are, they only record your IP's. If they did keep track of your habbits, then the RIAA and MPAA would easily be able to prove that you did what they said you did. All they tell the RIAA etc is who had that IP at the time of infraction. - kkalyan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no body has blogger comments for this page ?
- dendrimer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This thing rox. Much better than my crappy "BlogThis" bookmarklet!
- mesostinky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Uh everyone should read Yoda715's comment why should NOT be using this product.
Its bad enough that they are trying to get ISP's to spy on every site you visit. Why the F**k would you want Google to keep a record of every single website you visit? If google had any balls at all they'd track the usefullness of their program in use only and not tie it to any user. The data should then be deleted on a regular basis. It should not be "preserved" in any way shape or form. - jiaminn212, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Let me get this right...
"don't give out your information to anyone but google" ??? - Erroneus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0t0dd: there is, look under tools and btw. the site you linked to, is now detected.
- softguyus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is another one www.netmite.com
- nukethewhales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm in mexico so the "Blogger Web Comments" takes it upon itself to only show me comments in spanish. Anybody know how to fix this?
- darcon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0read the FAQ http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/safebrowsing/faq.html, if you don't want google knowing every page you visit just disable enhanced protection. You even get a message about after installing.
- felis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0privacy on the net? Are you daft?
- dtbond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wont let me install (needs Firefox 1.5.0) I have FF 1.5.....Any Ideas
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I like this alot....rather than those clunky toolbars like netcract that takes up a part of the screen just for phishing protection....a extension like googles is much better, smaller and out of the way :) props to google.
- Ramon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Google is getting way too much attention nowadays.
